    Origin & Maker

Rörstrand is one of Sweden’s oldest and most celebrated porcelain manufacturers, founded in 1726. With a legacy spanning over 300 years, Rörstrand is renowned for its craftsmanship, design, and quality, producing fine porcelain pieces that are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.

Throughout its history, Rörstrand has collaborated with various iconic designers who shaped its unique artistic direction. One of the most notable is Hertha Bengtson, a celebrated Swedish ceramicist and designer. She joined Rörstrand in 1941 and became widely recognized for her timeless designs, including the classic "Blå Eld" (Blue Fire) series. Blå Eld became a mid-century sensation, with its vibrant blue glaze and modernist appeal. Bengtson's work is admired for its clean lines and innovative use of colour, reflecting the Scandinavian design ethos of simplicity and elegance.

Other influential designers who left their mark on Rörstrand include Carl-Harry Stålhane and Gunnar Nylund, both of whom contributed significantly to the company’s global reputation during the 20th century. Their combined efforts helped Rörstrand maintain its status as one of the foremost producers of high-quality Scandinavian ceramics.
